Not sure if Chapters is only Canadian ([1] www.chapters.ca), but I was given a $25 gift card for the store and I have no idea what to buy.

Before anyone says books, I'm a Kindle kinda guy and even though they have ebooks available, they're DRMed to their own e-reader. Any other tips? Not really into physical media either.

Hello! I work for Chapters-Indigo-Coles. :)

$25 is a good amount to get an average-ish trade paperback or something like that. I know I burn through journals like crazy with school and the fact I like to write, I'd use it to buy a nice journal, and maybe a magazine or something. Also, books from the Kobo Store are downloadable in ePub format and are generally compatible with most eBook readers.

Just my recommendation. Depending on the size of the store you're visiting, you might be able to find some nice gift items.

Good luck!

I faced a similar dilemma when I got a $25 B&N card last year. After 30 minutes I found something to buy (but didn't really want) and headed to the check out line where I saw a display of Godiva Chocolates. Dropped the book on a table and got $25 worth of chocolate instead.

based on the website you gave, you could buy:
DVD/BR, videogame or toys. I also see some home accessories. My guess is you can buy them online if the store is far away to check what's good physically.

You can sell the gift card to a site that buys them. Won't get the full value though.
