I'm probably crazier than most so here is my list.

Water Resistant/Sealed to at least IP-68
No lightning port
WiFi 802.11AC even for iTunes sync
Inductive charging at least with inductive data pass through or completely wireless charging without induction
Stainless steel and glass enclosure
No buttons, all touch buttons with force touch
Gorilla Glass or Sapphire screen but prefer Gorilla Glass
OLED or IPS screen with always on battery save feature and at least 1080p
Expanded NFC ability but no full access
Stable iOS 10 with smarter features such as AI/Predictive capabilities

This setup is possible with current tech but will probably make most users cringe. The reason why this move would be so significant is that it pushes users back to core Apple design (simplicity) and it also simplifies usage and parts to where there would be less production cost.

- rugged & waterproof but not bulky, floats & works under water
- has a standard headphone-jack
- new sensors (dual cameras with distance measurement, temperature, flir, gas,...)
- keeps but better utilizes 3d touch
- compatible with apple pencil
- advanced taptic engine that can produce local feedback on screen
- inductive/mag safe & fast charging
- new materials (e.g. wood, rubber,...)
- produced fair
- 64/128 gb versions
- nfc compatible for pairing devices

Unless Apple gets into VR, QHD on a 4.7" display is complete overkill. I'd say 720p, 1080p, and 1440p for 4", 4.7", and 5.5" without VR support.

I don't know if you ever used any phone with 1080P screen. I did. The difference is visible when you compare with 4.7 inch iPhone 6S and Nexus 5X. Everything on Nexus 5X feel very sharp and pictures looks just better than iPhone 6S.

If sub 300 dollar Android smartphone can provide 1080P screen, I don't see why Apple wouldn't do 1080P screen on 700 dollars iPhone.

I don't see how this simplifies usage. But I can see it helps Apple reduce more production cost and opportunities to milk customer more money with all accessories.

I still prefer wired solution better than wireless if possible. I am not giving up cables and wired headphones. And I have no interest buying phone without any port and 3.5mm headphone jack.

I want exclusivity. Increase the price to $10,000.

jk :p

- Waterproof design
- Shatter-proof display
- Ability to use iPhone as car keys (I guess this depends on auto manufacturers..)
- Stereo speakers

I said the 4.7" iPhone should have a 1080p display. It just doesn't need QHD. I have a Galaxy S7 Edge so I know how nice the higher res screens look.

Keeping SE size and weight with :

- Bigger base storage or micro SD slot
- One week battery (with light usage)
- Squeezing bigger screen (4.3”) with higher res into SE body size by cutting the bezel
- Dual sim
- Cutting the price, after all its just a phone…

PS: folks, AMOLED is not gonna happen, I say this with 4,000% certainty. Apple are not the idiots that Samsung and (some) consumers are.

PPS: I've changed my mind - we should leave the design to Apple, seeing as THEY are good at it.
If memory serves me correctly it was Jony Ive himself who scoffed at the LED display of the IPhone as outdated and touted the display of the Apple Watch as the choice of the future. So people were expecting the 6S and 6S Plus to be released with an OLED display as the Apple Watch was.

FM/AM Radio support with FM Transmitter support.

ATSC or ATSC-M.

Infrared with IRDA learning.

Waterproof.

Shatterproof display.

Better quality control.

Next gen battery like the one that was going to be in the ubuntu edge phone.

Square bezel or rather full support for apps like cycloramic.

Complete secondary phone system so when my device goes dead i can still make phone calls or texts.

Back with e-ink display perhaps ?

UBeam wireless charging. (this is a big one)

Satellite calling.

Something like SPOT network support over FM or some kind of singlecast broadcast support.

Perhaps some way to add a additional battery ?

Full 802.11r and APT-X support.
