Hear, hear!

All say "aye" who are in favor of dial-up being completely eradicated from the world!
Broadband needs to become the new standard. Period.

Now before people flame me to death about lack of infrastructure, prohibitive costs, etc., I'm saying that the effort needs to be made to change these things. Just like telephone service has become a standard in everyday life, broadband needs to do likewise. Where cable and dsl are not possible, satellite is picking up the slack. And as new technology, like data over powerlines becomes possible, everyone with power will be able to get broadband. Let's wish with all our might to get this done.

I am a demon of speed! Roadrunner in Palm Springs. :D

Apparently, from what I am seeing, Road Runner is kicking a respectable amount of rump. On the Bandwidth place, and on the 2wire tests, I got in the low 2's. Considering Sunday evening seems to be one of the busier times on the internet (yes, Virginia, there is a reason all those eBay auctions end on Sunday evening, that's when the most people are on to drive the prices up at close) that seems pretty cool. I'll test the Comcast we have at work tomorrow and see if it stacks up.

Proof...

How about some images to back your claims?
I've seen a lot of text here, but as we all know, anyone can write whatever they please, regardless of the factual basis.
I'm not calling anyone a liar, I'm just a skeptic until I see something concrete.

Well, I got a hold of my ISP techies last night. The guy on the other end of the phone even knew about OS X (imagine that). After running some tests, it was determined that the problem is not at my end (or with my home network :D) but somewhere once I connect to their network. It seems that once I connect to their net, the connection goes senile.

The issue has been escalated to other techs within the ISP. I might be contacted by them at home, but then again, they might just fix it without contacting me.

My speeds are so low that I don't want to post them. Lets just say, they are below 1/4th of what they are supposed to be.

I probably wouldn't have thought too much of this, if it wasn't for this thread and the testing. I am now testing it at least a couple of times a day until it is where it should be. Once that happens, I intend to test it about once a week, just to make sure the speed doesn't drop on me.

Peace

1.1 Mbit

I'm gettin 1.1 Mbit in this test (ran it four times, same result). However, on a local (Norwegian) speed test, I get 5.9 Mbit (5936 kbit/s) :D :p :D ......
Guess it depends on where the server is...

How to i take a screen image with a windows Me? don't worry my new PowerBook G4 667 is coming in on tuesday, shall i wait and re-run the test with my mac?

You don't. At least not without having to get additional software.

My Tests

One question how accurate is this thing?
Cuz mine jumped around for a while, then i got this one a couple of times, and a couple higher, so this is the average one

p.s. i made it black & white so i could post it

Did i do this right????

Yes you can, press the print screen key, and then either go into clipboard viewer and save the file, or open up any application that accepts images, paint/word etc... and press the paste command (Cntrl V). Basically the PRNT SCRN key copies what's on the screen so you can paste it anywhere, also you can just copy select windows etc... if you fool around with holding Cnrtl Shift PRNT SCRN all at the same time. Mac's Rule PC's Suck, see how complex it is to get such a simple thing done?
