Anyone have experience with this app and do you think it's safe to download for checking cable speeds on some of my unmarked cables?

Thanks!

No, it identifies any cable plugged into your Mac and gives you info such as speeds, any issues with connection etc,

How does it work? Do you plug both ends of the cable into your Mac?
Techcrunch (I think that is where I read it) had an article about this app and it did mention plugging both ends of the cable into your Mac. I was kinda wondering if that might harm your Mac, but I guess not?

Edit:
WhatCable works by measuring what the cable is delivering while it’s actually in use, or by looping it from one USB-C port on your Mac to another, like the joke about a self-charging Mac.

Found this on 9to5mac.

I tried it. Seems to work reasonable well. It is shared on github so I guess it is pretty safe. One thing is that to read the e-marker, it needs to plugged into a TB device or something of high amperage apparently.
