Other whatever happened to Apple's plan to have iPhone on subscription plans?

Gurmans' September 11th newsletter says:
Q: Is Apple’s hardware subscription service still coming?
A: The company is indeed still working on a hardware subscription servicethat will integrate with its Apple One bundles. Apple is actively testing this new service, and I do expect it to launch either later this year or next year. One reason that Apple may have decided not to debut it alongside the iPhone 14 is to reduce launch day complexity. After it all, it will add an entirely new way to buy an iPhone.

Some rumors say it would replace iUP eventually, much like Apple Card and the Barclays Apple card briefly were both on the Apple site. But the new one would be less clunky, forgoing the Citizens One loan process externally and opening up the option to more products beyond iPhone later on.
I would imagine the monthly cost might be lower, but maybe there isn’t an option to buy? Maybe there is a minimum length of time? Whatever the case, it will have to be a good deal for both parties.

I would imagine it would cost more than iUP. Since it supposedly has everything iUp offers, plus Apple One.
I was thinking this would be a separate subscription from that — I guess we’ll just have to wait to find out.
