Any one care to comment about Dashboard?
Why is it neglected? I really like it, its a very convienent way to access stuff like a dictionary, scale/currency converter, and just watch general stats on your computer like CPU, heat and uptime.

shouldn't Apple re-breath life into it?

Apple is slowly killing it because the new shortcut Notifications windows in Yosemite. I bet Apple will drop it for the next version of OS X.

I agree dashboard adds a lot of convenience (a dictionary, weather forecast, calculator and a dozen post-it notes at my fingertips without taking up screen space). For me removing dashboard marks a downward turn in OSX as it moves towards the redundancies of features like Launchpad and the stagnation of programs/features like iTunes and iPhoto (now Photos).

It's 2015 and I still can't drag and drop photos on and off my iPhone the same way I do my music nor can I see the music on my phone through iTunes the same way I do the rest of my music - as cover art - nope, still forced to look at it like an excel spreadsheet. Awesome Microsof-I-mean-Apple.

I'm still waiting for the extra widgets that were promised for .Mac members back in 2005.

If you don't recall, .Mac members (.Mac is the successor to iTools and predecessor to MobileMe and iCloud) were promised special widgets just for them when Tiger was released.

10 years have passed. No special widgets.

I worked for Apple for a while and they use certain widgets internally. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep Dashboard around for that reason.
