Outside of movies, HDR content seems kind of dead in day-to-day media like YouTube, social media, photos, etc. Only time I ever see it is on a short video where someone has forgotten to turn it off on their iPhone since I believe it's enabled by default. In general, HDR doesn't really seem to add anything just blow out a photo or video with high brightness levels for a brief moment ruining everything you look at for short time after.

Anyone actually use or appreciate HDR?

Obviously, everyone’s opinion will vary here, but for me, HDR content is a little bit overstimulating honestly

I don’t really love HDR movies

It can be visually impressive, but it just wears me out

I use low levels of HDR in challenging dynamic range situations. HDR is susceptible to garish abuse most of the time that ruins the effect. Same thing happened with early versions of Photoshop with over use of filters.

Good input. Does HDR affect file sizes? I assume it does so maybe the return on investment for creatives isn’t there.
