What's a good free voice recording app?

    GarageBand.

    While it's not "free", it's included with your Mac.

    Never knew that. Tons of these little apps here and there I've never touched. Going to try it out, thanks.

    Manage to record and export to .m4a, however my 3 second voice recording mysteriously is 7 seconds with the rest having no sound. Any other solutions?

    Never tried it, but I believe that there is a voice recording option in the note taking feature of word '08. So if you are looking for an in class type recording program that might do.

    Audacity

    Audacity is really really good. Simple, yet amazingly intuitive. I use it for Spanish recordings in my Spanish class. It's free and its awsm.
