Why are you going off topic, i thought the point was about the performance differences between small ad large capacity SSDs, nothing to do with the XT. You are trying to go off topic to cover up for the fact that your initial statement was wrong. :p

LOL.....Ask that other user why.

I think Hawk is right, you're changing topics to cover up the fact that both your statements were wrong.

If you want to discuss the Seagate XT I'll be happy to in the appropriate thread.

You say that but I'd much rather have 78/128 GB used than 78/80.

That's another good point. Having so little free space can have negative effects on performance and when you only have 2GB free space, it means the 2GB will be overwritten often, causing even more wear.

Funny, trying to steer people away from what you post is kinda funny. You post misinformation because you own the XT product. I was showing others how you can not be trusted because you are overly biased.

Back to the original question:

If you can shell out an extra $40, grab the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB from Amazon for $239.99. I paid the extra $3.99 (Amazon Prime) and had it in about 15 hours. Best purchase I've ever made for my MBP (see sig for configuration).

But if the limit is strictly $200 on the nose, I'd side with these, depending if it's a SATA II or a SATA III setup:

SATA II: Corsair Force (115GB), $179.99:

SATA III: OCZ Solid 3 (120GB), $199.99 - $30.00 MIR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227729

I'd still get a SATA III anyway if it's only a SATA II, based on if they upgrade the system later, they'll have the current generation speeds.

Hell, just noticed that you can get the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB, Max IOPS Edition for only $249.99 w/ the $25 Promo Code on Newegg. Now I kind of wish I would have waited to get that since I paid $243.98 for my regular Vertex 3. Oh well I guess.

I picked up my Samsung 470 for $209 on amazon (gift cards I had brought that down even more). I love it though, screaming fast.
