After about a year and a half of using iPhone 14 PM caseless, finally cracked the back of it. No AppleCare on it as I have some Amex insurance for it.

1) What does it cost to repair the back glass out of warranty?

2) Maybe I just trade the phone into AT&T for a new one - my understanding is that carriers will accept damaged phones for trade ins. I wanted to wait until next year to upgrade however

Thoughts?

Yeah, I see now. I can get it fixed for the $50 deductible based on Amex insurance, or try to trade it in. Rather just get it fixed honestly, will probably get a fresh battery on the pro max for the next year
Don't be so sure that it will be accepted for trade-in. It's possible but it will be at a much lower price. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave you $50-$100. No easy way to replace the back glass without completely replacing the chassis.

Why would you have to replace the chassis? Plenty videos on YouTube on how to replace back glass!

I think with the 14-series, the Apple Store essentially takes your display & puts it on a new body. That’s why the repair rate is so high, compared to 15/16-series where the back glass is independently replaceable. You might get a new battery in the process, not sure.

Have you watched those videos? Your water resistance is gone when you do that kind of repair. The rear glass is secured between the cameras outer bezels. To remove the glass, you have to cut those bezels off and chip away the glass. Apple replaces the phone for $529 for this reason. The design was changed on the 15 Pro series to allow the rear glass to be replaced easily and cheaply.
