I was on my phone then out of nowhere my apps randomly said "cleaning", replacing the name of the app. It did it under like 5-6apps. Started with the Facebook app, then accuweather

    What exactly is it?

Emptying out the cache for those apps usually. Happens in iOS 6 and before too.

Interesting, I have used iPhones and iOS for years now, and have never seen that before.

I've probably seen it a grand total of three times in the past six years.

This has happened to me several times. Sometimes when I'm downloading an app and it needs more space then it erases cache. Or maybe when the storage is almost full.

Never had this happen to me but there's been a few people on here mention it.

Yep. iPhone does this to prevent iPhone from having no storage left.

Probably they keep a lot of files like Facebook or Tumblr, in my case, because of photos and stuff.
