I guess these discussions, sometimes petty, are why we love having options, right?
I am a 40 mi/week runner / trail runner and admittedly an Apple Fanboy, owning most of the most recent AW models, including my current AW Ultra 2.

Anyone who says they are built like a toy is just trolling and trying to bolster their point. That's fine if that's your purpose, but it's also a ridiculous thing to say.

All that said, it's also ridiculous that the Apple Watch Ultra specifically is labeled as such when it is not. I have a Garmin 965 that I use because the Apple Watch is notoriously incomplete to be called an ultra watch. I love it, but it has limitations that are 'frustrating'.

Sure, you can supplement your watch with apps, but anyone who uses them for any amount of time and cares about data and recovery will realize that it sucks to have 3 or 4 apps doing the thing that one watch can do.

I love my 965. But after workouts, it's back to the AWU2 for everyday life. That is my experience. I guess I am lucky enough to have both!

Cheers all!

I have an AW2 but I also run with my really old Garmin Fenix 3HR Sapphire because there something about it that I love. It is really big and the battery lasts forever. I really prefer the look of the Garmin over the Apple watch.
I wish Apple would make a Sports version of the Apple Ultra watch...maybe a traditional big round black watch....Apple if you're listening please take my money...:p

I really don’t engage with anyone who refers to anything as a “toy” unless it‘s a discussion about actual toys 😁

I’ve been using my 965 paired with an AW (now an Ultra 2) since it was released and the 965 is the closet I’ve come to making the switch full time. I’ve had Garmin’s since the Forerunner 610 I believe. But something about music and podcast playback, messaging and general connectivity (including Siri) keeps me coming back to the AW.

My new experiment is foregoing all the Garmin running and recovery metrics and simplifying by just using the AW Ultra 2 for everything. I’m giving it a month. It would be nice to not have to deal with two watches.
