I get to upgrade my phone in December, and since this is my first phone I don't know how to even ask this question. I recently had to replace my charger cable and as of a few days, the USB power charger went out. I am now charging my phone while I am on my MBP. I am kind of leaning twords not going for the new 6, but wait for the 6C that I keep reading about.

My question, do I go ahead and tell the person who I talk to when I bring in my phone that the usb charger does not work. Since I had to replace my USB cable (the cord was stripped and I had exposed wires) will that effect the trade-in value. (Techically, I'll get to trade in on October 6th.) I got out of my plan that I have a few weeks early because of a new deal for the house and I am part of the house plan.

I have been told that I don't have to trade in on the day it expires, but since, technically, I am not on that agreement anymore I don't know if I will be able to upgrade to the much speculated 6C when it comes out because I will still be under the house plan.

What can I expect, any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

Some trade-ins do not require you to turn in the accessories, but some do. Who are you going to turn it into or sell it to?

There is not going to be a 6C phone. For now, your choice will be either the newly released 6s or 6s Plus. Or alternatively, for $100 less, you can get last year's model, the 6 or the 6 Plus.

I am going to go to Best Buy. My phone has been very good for majority of the two years and only had started to be a little stubborn lately. (Unresponsive apps... apps stuck on waiting... that kind of thing.) IF I have to buy anything, I can use my rewards card for them. :)

No one cares about the accessories for trade ins.

This message is for a-m-k, but Best Buy does care about what accessories you turn in with your phone and they may deduct even more value if you don't turn something in. See Item 6 here:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/electro...22/pcmcat257100050022.c?id=pcmcat257100050022

However, here's an easy fix for you: just include the non-functioning USB charger when you turn the phone in. They will not check it and don't worry, they are going to give you pennies on the dollar for your phone and I assure you they will not be losing money on the deal. (Best Buy will just hand off your used phone to a liquidator...a non-functioning USB charger will literally cost them a few cents.)

Hope this helps -- enjoy your new phone. If I were in your shoes, I'd go for the new 6s or 6s Plus.

BTW, to the OP... Not sure where you're seeing all the speculation on the 6c, but I wouldn't count on seeing it anytime soon. The buzz has definitely died down.

The USB cable lost some of the protective cover. I assume from accidental pulling, and I must have dropped the USB charger (the square plug.... I forget what it's called ) one too many times. I've only dropped my phone two times so far. Though it was on soft surfaces. (My shoe and grass from a very short distance.) To be honest, I think it was thrown out.

No biggie then. I wouldn't worry about it then. They may or may not dock you a few dollars.
