Looking at my kids screentime usage... it has colors for entertainment, games, etc on the bar graph of time usage... but then above the colored bar graph segments are large gray bar graph segments... what are those?

For instance... it says my kid used his ipad for 53 minutes. 5 minutes was fortnight, but the other 48 minutes are unaccounted for by any app.
 
I to would like to know this. I can only Guess but perhaps time on homescreen or other categories combined?

My guess is that they are reading the message previews on the locked screen, without going into the app itself.

Essentially home screen time. So the screen is on, but you're not in an app. At least that's what my understanding of it is.
