Issue 26 of iCreate magazine should have been published on December 22, but hasn't appeared on newsstands in the UK yet.

There has been news of the collapse of owners Highbury House -- http://business.guardian.co.uk/story/0,16781,1680359,00.html -- but some of the titles have reportedly been taken up by other publishers.

Presumably iCreate has not yet been rescued -- does anyone know the facts?

I rang up yesterday to renew my subs and they took the money...:(

There was an automated reply beforehand that said that there was a problem with sub deliveries and they'd be two weeks late.

About 2 months ago, we got a letter telling us that Cube (the GameCube magazine I subscribe to) had disappeared and that they had given me back the remaining subscription. Coupled with this, it makes me think Highbury are in trouble :(

That´s sad.
I have been looking for the latest issue of iCreate here in Norway. I thought it was sold out as this tends to happen.
We don´t get that many ex of each issue up here.
It´s my favourite Mac mag by far.
Hope it´s only temporarely

I think it may be too soon to write off iCreate, as no-one seems yet to have had notice of subscription cancellation, so it may mean that the title may be in process of being sold.

However, I don't think I would be taking out a new subscription until Issue 26 hits the newsstands.

Means my collection of Issues 1-25 may have gone up in value though!

i'd chase that one up if i were you!

Didnt know that about Highbury.... its a shame if iCreate ceases to exist. Despite the quite corny iApp tutorials (Set up a smart folder in Mail!), it was a quality magazine, both in content and aesthetic. And I loved the back issue on bundled PDF idea too. Bloody expensive magazine though.

Hopefully somebody will pick it up. Future? Dennis? And didnt that Mark dude JUST take over as editor? lol

What do people think of Mac Creative? I think it has potential to fill the gap...

I've bought a few copies of iCreate and other Mac magazines but usually they're just too overpriced and most of the info can be found online anyway. In saying that, iCreate is one of the better ones.

MY copy of GameTM is also late.

Another Highbury magazine.

Worrying

:(

My boyfriend subscribes to GamesTM, and they're always late.

I have every issue of iCreate save two (the multi-colored iPod cover & the most recent Tigger cover), but I doubt I'll continue due to price and the launch of a more advanced users title from Highbury, MacCreative.

If Highbury is in trouble wouldn't that put this new title in jeopardy as well?..
I just recently let my subscription to iCreate run out- but I've missed getting ever since- shame to hear that it might be gone, it really was a great rag...

Apparently the business is up for sale after Kelvin Mackenzie (ex Editor of 'The Sun') bought control of the business then proceeded to **** it up.

The latest issues are going to be late as they weren't printed - they couldn't pay the printers due to the on-going problems but apparently they have now been printed. They will be out but the paper/print quality might not be as good (just for the current issues). It seems there's quite a lot of interest from other publishers in buying a lot of the titles so the mags will probably go on.

Mine too.

If your paing for a sub then you should get the magazine before it hits the news stands, and not bloody afterwoods.

Anyway, heres hoping GamesTM coninues, best magazine since Edge and (Going back a bit to late 80's early 90's) ACE.

What was your source for this, Caveman?

OK, panic over -- I picked up Issue 26 at W H Smith today. Paper and print quality appears to be normal.

Issue 27 is due out Jan 19!

Absolutely.

He phoned them up yesterday as he still hadn't got it, and there's a recorded message saying they're having problems and to bear with them. Hopefully it'll come soon.

He said if the next one's late he's going to cancel the subscription and just buy it in the shops so he get's it on time. Hopefully they'll sort themselves out though.

Update....

My boyfriend just sent me this in an email, having phoned Highbury:

The company's been sold.

No subscribers have got their issue. You’re not likely to get money back.

Which means I spent 24.00 on one issue of it! And you thought your graphics mag prices were badass

So that sucks, guys. Hopefully those of you with a subscription were near the end of it, as opposed to poor Liam who had just renewed his....

If he paid his subcription through DD or CC he should call his bank/credit provider. They'll often credt their customer and go after the supplier themselves. I think if it's by DD the supplier's bank gurantees the customers money so it'll be their loss if Highbury went belly up not your boyfriend or his bank.

Ooh, good point, thanks for that. He doesn't have a credit card, but I'll check out how he paid for it.

I should have thought of that, as I spent a very long summer before university processing chargebacks. (Mainly for AOL failing to cancel contracts, as it happens... )

Funny you should mention that, as I currently process chargebacks part time while at Uni, and AOL is definitely the chief offender lol.

Theres a new issue of MacCreative out.

They're still doing it? Blimey, this was almost 4 years ago! You'd think the bank would say, look, pull your socks up, and stop stringing people up, or we won't let you use Visa anymore. Crazy.
