What's "installdb"?

So I upgraded the HDD in my MB yesterday, using disc utility to "Restore" it from the old drive that was in an enclosure.

Off and on, though, a process called "installdb" seems to be eating a lot of CPU cycles.

Can someone tell me what that is?
