Who would want to use OSX on a touch screen. Microsoft is trying that right now and it's not working out so well.

It's working out just fine. They did design the OS to be used by either a touch screen or a mouse. Apple will just have to write OSX for both. Much of the OS is already touch (gesture) friendly given the track pad support.

tl;dr - person who doesn't use iOS 7 calls iOS 7 a usability mess.

Reminds me of the people who still try to joke about Apple Maps.

That "most people who are complaining actually never used it" cliche doesn't work here. Apple have practically forced most people upgraded it to iOS 7 and people have used the new one for a while. That why we are hearing more complaints.

Plus from my own experience, a quarter people who still insist iOS 7 is amazing are actually owning their first iPhone.

I have zero problems with iOS 7 OR Maps. Love them both. And I've had an iPhone longer than two years.

I would like to see Apple improve their software products. I'm sick of them dumbing-down their products so much that they become un-usable or a shadow of what they have been, or could potentially be.

Just who is in charge of usability and "common sense" in their software department these days??
Apple's terrible, terrible software usability blows my mind as it gets worse and worse every year.

I hate to tell you, but a 4K display isn't going to cost $999 given that the Sharp version is retailing for about $3,500. But when they come out with the 4K screen, the current cinema display may go down in price.

Yeah, I get that, smartypants. As much as I'd like a 4k monitor since sometimes my designs are in that resolution, to stay at the $999 mark I would accept something less than a 4k resolution with updated ports and a style that matches the MacPro instead of the old MacPro. I just don't want to buy a monitor that gets upgraded ANY way within a few months of my purchase. Since an upgrade is long overdue, it seems to be imminent, if only a minor upgrade.

Could you imagine a larger iPhone and not wider?? it would look like a remote control without buttons!

I'm very excited for changes to OSX

I really like the design changes to iOS7, especially the new look for Safari and the calendar app. They are simpler and beautiful. Sure all the skeumorphics had personality, but it was a very 1987 personality and, well, it's just not 1987 any more. (Even if I still like hair metal bands -- don't judge.)

I'm really excited to see some of those changes migrate to OSX.

Now I just wish they'd give a true redesign to OSX's Mail app. It's dated in look and function and it's time for an update. If Mail could be based in Safari and it was actually a live iCloud feed when you have an internet connection that would be better.

I would also love to see Contacts do a better job of capturing email addresses and other contact info. That's still an area where Google is miles ahead of Apple.

"I really like the design changes to iOS7, especially the new look for ... the calendar app..."

Geez, you have got to be kidding - Apple rendered that app absolutely useless in iOS 7.

Haswell MacMini equipped with a 750M on the higher end?

iPhone 5C is so 1987...

If they make the iPhone bigger, why not just buy an iPad Mini and use that instead?

Apple should start making pants with pockets designed for the bigger iPad Mini Phones.

Ummmm.... this is why:

And people say Samsung's phones are too big.

Yeah... this'll show 'em!

I completely agree. There is a small but vocal crowd who'd be aghast at the idea but I, for one, love what they did with iOS7 and am looking forward to OS X following suit. YMMV, of course.

Simply your personal opinion, which is fine. In mine they improved it, and for me it is not even close to "useless." YMMV.

I will never understand...

the need for a larger iPhone. If you have trouble viewing the screen, get an iPad Mini with Skype and you're done. Otherwise, get yourself a Jitterbug phone.

A phone should small enough to slip into your pocket and use, wait for it, as a phone. My niece has Galaxy III phone (which she now hates), she's not small (5.5") and the thing looks ridiculous in her hands. Is that what we want? Mobile handhelds so large you can land a Harrier on them? I'll leave this last thought with you: Donald Trump says Apple should make an iPhone with a larger screen which means he wants one. Takeaway? If Donald Trump wants something, you don't want it.

I could see practical usage for a larger screen iPad but not one as a consumer device.

There are elements of iOS 7 I like but I do think the font weight on a smaller screen can be a bit of an issue but it might not look so bad on a larger screen. What Ive should keep in mind is not completely retooling the OS to be optimized on hi-res displays like Retina Displays - it's where we're going but not everybody will be there yet. Therefore, there should be an option that accounts for non-hires displays.

And I will say this: I think the 'folder' colors on iOS 7 should be darker or allow for variable opaqueness.

Here's why: try reading the Twitter, Facebook or any social media app in Portrait display mode on the iPhone 5/5c/5s. Not fun to read because everything is so tiny. That's why I have a Samsung Galaxy S III--at 4.8" diagonal size, social media apps are actually readable in Portrait display mode.

This is why I think we'll have two iPhone models in 2014--one a second-generation iPhone 5c (but with iPhone 5s internals), and the new iPhone 6 with a 5" display and the new A8 system on a chip (SoC).

5"? I hope not. I want 4.5" or so, Moto X size.

I have no idea who the target market for the iPad Pro would be.

Give me Final Cut Pro X on iOS8 and I'll be first in line.

Seriously, for light editing that would be fantastic. I use FCPX on my 2010 MBP for light projects on the go and it's got even less processing power than an iPad Air. Imagine what an A8 chip could achieve.

Too little, too late.

I am jumping ship as regards phones. No choice as far as iPhones go.

Going to give the Note 3 a try. Looks like fun.

On a related note, I am interested in seeing what a larger screen can do for the iPhone and iOS 8 to allow for more content creation applications. Even at 4", content creation seems impractical on the iPhone 5-5S.

My girlfriend just bought her first iPhone (I have a Galaxy Note and until then she only had Symbian-based Nokia phones). One thing I hate in iOS 7 (although I never dealt with previous versions) is the lack of a file browser and the malfunctioning of personal hotspot (in short, you have to wake up the phone constantly to keep the hotspot alive). Also, we like Swype-style keyboards and I have not found any equivalent app for iOS. I think I like phones which works more like a desktop computer than one that works as a repository of independent apps.

A larger iphone is desperately needed. i will have to switch to samsung if apple does not finally offer a larger screen size with the iphone 6.
