When my free trial ran out, I cancelled as I didn't want to pay the monthly fee. After a few screens of "are you sure?" I got an offer of £15 for three months, which I took.

The ATV app isn't great. The iPad app is much better as it remembers the programmes you watch so it's easy to find new episodes. With the ATV app you have to wade through long lists to find them every time.

Be aware, the Sky box is wifi only - whereas the ATV is wifi and Ethernet capable.

The Sky box is only 720p compared to AppleTV's 720p/1080p.

Also, you can stream archived movies and music from your Mac/iPhone/Pad to the ATV.

You can't do that with Sky's own box.

Best buy a refurb (aka new) AppleTV from the Apple Store.
I could be mistaken but I think Now TV movies only stream at 720p regardless of what device you are using, its a definite disadvantage over rival streaming services that offer full HD.

Yep, it's really noticeable as well.

It seems crazy in 2015 that so many service still don't offer full HD, it really should be the standard by now. ITV Player still only streams in SD, it's almost unwatchable on larger screen TVs.

I think its deliberate to protect the Sky TV platform....otherwise what real incentive is there to pay for full fat Sky over NOWTV.

So what streaming services are 1080p HD?

I think: Netflix, Amazon, BBC iPlayer

Yep, that's pretty much it for the UK. Ofcourse only Netflix is on Apple TV right now. I guess its not technically a streaming service but iTunes offers 1080p content too.

Over this past Summer, I took a month's Sky Movies pass as part of the NowTV package.

Unlike iTunes Movie rentals or Netflix on the ATV, Sky Movies is only delivered in stereo.
