There is a public outdoor pool about 10 miles away. But I’m pretty sure it will be rammed. My idea of hell tbh.
Got up early and went for a walk with Mrs AFB. By the time we got back (not long after 7), it was already too warm.
Have to pop out in a bit. I have the cars AC getting the car cool before I have to leave. The joy of EV’s.

That too! I love a good cruise around. The city pools around here, they break each day into 3hr sections and so many swimmers per 3hr block, so it’s never crazy crowded. Kind of a pain to use their website to reserve & pay but the swim experience is nice this way.

He is twenty years gone this year, and I still miss him.
Actually, perhaps unusually, he loved celebrating his birthday - being treated, or treating others, savouring a glass of good rich Italian red wine, or an evening whisky, loving life, laughter and his family.
Yes, I shall raise a glass to his memory this evening.
Went to Goodwood Festival Of Speed of day one of two yesterday, second day is tomorrow where we have grandstand tickets to sit and watch the track all day.
But I saw a fair few cars, but the new Jaguar concept was there, and it grew on me and I thought it worked. I know their has been controversy surrounding it's design, and give him his due the head of Jaguar UK was stood around the car speaking to the public to gain feedback. He was nice and friendly and I had a little chat with him. I said it worked and who knows, it may end up as iconic as the Type E one day?
The new MG car's were really impressive, surprisingly so actually. Although not on sale yet. Audi and BMW were the usual, but I prefer BMW steering wheels as they still have actual buttons as opposed to Audi's touch sensitive ones.
Saw lots of F1 cars, HAAS and Suaber had 2 each, and Red Bull had quite a few fro their collection on show, but only one of the older V8 ones went up the hill and sounded absolutely glorious!!
The drift cars were the usual bonkers lol. Make lots of noise and some doing doughnuts up the hill. A good day all in and I am looking forward to tomorrow's action. Very hot though, drank an awful lot of water and used a lot of sun cream.

That is incredible. Not gotten so hot here as far as I recall. 27 today which is really nice (to my taste).

Just got done installing some new ceiling fans and the new fridge came, so waiting for it to cool down and then I’ll water my garden with the ice and cooler water. I saw my mom n dad at my boys soccer games this morning. They always try to come to their games while they still can. Middle kiddo won, older kiddo lost his game but got a player of the game award. He did really hustle considering the team was down three players 🙂

Just received two bits of unfortunate news.
First, though this isn't official yet, I saw that a professor at my school passed away. I didn't know him or take any of his classes, but he led some student organizations. I haven't received any official word from the school though, but I did read his obituary.
Second (which is not surprising), I co-direct an ensemble here in my hometown. We've been using a nice auditorium on state property for years, and I just received word tonight that that space is being bought out by Expo New Mexico, the company that runs the state fair. This essentially means that although the building will remain standing, nonprofits cannot use the space, and from what I hear it will be used solely for state functions and events. Although unfortunate, this comes as no surprise to me, and I saw the writing on the wall years ago. Fewer and fewer groups performed at this auditorium, they started charging parking fees (which I was thankfully able to avoid through parking passes), and sometimes there weren't even any security guards. This also isn't surprising given all the controversy and legal litigation going on with the state fairgrounds, on which this property stands.

I have only seen videos of it and photos, but to me the design looks heavy handed and bulky, too big for that type of car.
I cannot see it being timeless - like some of the cars from Claus Luthe for instance.
The production model with 4 doors may be slightly better but the images of the prototype doesn't make me hopeful.
The renderings here look a little bit better, but not a Jaguar to my eyes:

Another hot day. Got my cross training session done early whilst Mrs AFB watered.
Now the heat is already too oppressive. Mrs AFB had to do some baking this morning as she had depleted many of her staples from the freezer.
Now going to mostly take it easy for the rest of the day.

That may have been the worst parking lot I have ever encountered. Played a restaurant gig with a singer this morning. Gig was great but pulling into and backing out of that lot was the most awful thing I've ever done in a car. Super narrow so everyone had to take turns going to the end of the lot, doing a three-point turn, and then going the other way. I had to wait for at least 10 cars to do this before I could. Then after that it took me at least another 5-7 minutes to get out of the lot. Next time I am parking on the street.
Then I wasn't even done after that. Construction EVERYWHERE around downtown (where this gig was). Took me at least half an hour to get home (normally should only take 10 minutes).

Mostly jazz standards in singer keys (so some odd keys). When I Fall in Love, It's Only a Paper Moon, stuff like that. I played one solo piece at the very end.

Forty years ago today were the back-to-back Live Aid concerts in England and the US. I was going to post the 20-minute live show that Queen just smoked, didn't get around to it, and tonight CNN in the US broadcast an hour-long special about the concert, so I set a timer to watch that.
About twenty minutes in, they hadn't even covered the "Feed the World" song yet, and then I noticed it was "Episode 1 of Season 1", oh okay.
But man, it was so depressing; a lot of footage of the Ethiopian famine, Bob Geldolf having words with the Queen of England, and then reflecting on what's happening in 3 or 4 places on the globe right now (I'm struggling not to touch the political 3rd rail) and the whole thing left me very... despondent. I know the battle between Empathy and Greed has been going on since the beginning, but it's really depressing to know, in this modern age of tech, communication, and education, we're really no further along as a species than we were at the beginning. 😕

In accordance with a Law of Time(inevitable socioeconomic changes in a society related to the interconnection between renewal of information on a biological level and renewal of information on a technological level), the "era of the animal" is ending.
The interesting question is: Will there be anybody who will actually miss "living at the expense of others" as it is slowly slipping away? They must be feeling very anxious and melancholic right now.

lol no, in person it looks NOTHING like a Nissan GTR. And it is a concept only too.
