My dad grew rhubarb in his garden so of course it was turned into pie filling. Awful, bitter tasting stuff that has lead me to turn down anything with rhubarb ever since.

I know strawberry rhubarb pie is supposed to be good....but no thanks!

I suppose it comes down to whether one actually likes bitter tasting fruit - and I am one who does (as did my mother).

My dad used to grow rhubarb - everyone used to have an old rusty metal refuse bin with the bottom kicked out so you could place it over the rhubarb to force.

I always thought it was best to eat it in a crumble covered with a thick layer of sugar. You eat the crumble, the cooked sugar layer but then chucked the stewed rhubarb at the bottom of bowl out 😉

In a crumble with brown sugar and custard. And yes leave the awful stuff at the bottom!

Strawberry and rhubarb are a wonderful combination and work really well together.

We moved when I was 7 and Dad's gardens at subsequent houses always included strawberry but never rhubarb. None of my siblings responded well to rhubarb, so I suspect that might have been the reason

Isn't "PowerPointless" the truth!

I remember my father avoided PowerPoint at the end of his teaching career, even though he had students whining about that fact on evaluations. I now wonder what his exact thinking, but I wouldn't be totally surprised if he felt it would be PowerPointless. Then, he had a Luddite side at times. For example, he only caved to having a cell phone (a flip phone, even!) in the last year of his life.
