What’s on my mind? Lofi Girl and Lofi (Synth?) Boy are MIA! Just a new live stream with clouds and a partial snow flake ❄️

Edit: and ethereal music that I can’t get out of my head.

I’m in the in between. Not quite old enough for the shingles vaccine (a few years to go) but old enough that there was no vaccine when I was a kid. Like most people my age, I got sick with it. Not sure what they called it in the UK or Europe, but here in the states, we called it chickenpox.

Edit: just saw that it’s been called chickenpox for a long time, since the 1600’s, so probably called the same both sides of the pond. 🙂

I had gathered that it was actually quite rare to succumb to shingles twice, especially as an adult.

Anyway, at the time, I was working in a very stressful environment, - work stressful, as in a psychologically toxic environment stressful rather than dangerous stressful - and have long thought (and have had it said to me) that this may have been a contributory factor when I contracted shingles.

Chickenpox is not shingles, although they are (relatively close) kin re their respective DNA/RNA.

My understanding is that children do receive a vaccine for chickenpox, at least, in the UK and Ireland, and, I would assume, much of Europe.

I don't know where the line is between "rare" and "not common" but various sources say much the same as this:

"..studies have shown that around 6% of people will have shingles more than once."

At my hotel after a long day in the office and travelling.
Last time I stayed here there were about 12 free EV chargers. Today all broken and a £12 parking fee. I suspect I won’t stay here next time. Still plenty of charge left, but I might top up at Tesco later.

2FA (Two Factor Authentication) is getting everywhere.
But, it's not always implemented effectively.

On my iMac, using Ventura or Sonoma, I sign into my Apple Developer's account.

Now, the 2FA prompt is supposed to come up on my phone, and I copy the numbers onto the Mac screen.

However, the prompt comes up on the screen I am using to sign in to my account.

I still have to copy the numbers presented into the web page, so I am really getting the Two Factor thingy, but Apple, they are supposed to be on Two Different Devices!!!

Same virus, the only difference is when you get it: “Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV) that also causes chickenpox. In the case of chickenpox, also called varicella, the initial infection with the virus typically occurs during childhood or adolescence.”

Here too (US). Both my kids were vaccinated. But the vaccine came out in the 90’s when I was already a young adult. I got the actual chickenpox when I was a kid in the early 80’s.

Which EV are you driving?

Gotta say though, that’s more EV chargers than any hotel I’ve stayed at! And I live in “EV friendly” California!

That's the way it works for me too. I think it happens only when your Mac and your iPhone are signed in with the same Apple ID.

It's a handy convenience but, as you realize, the risk is that somebody with access to your Mac won't need your phone to get into your account. You'll know something is going on, since your phone will get the 2FA code too, but that doesn't stop the intruder.

I think the ideal solution would be for that convenience to work only when your iPhone is near your computer.
 
I'm just now realizing this (with a week left till I fly home), but man, do I really, REALLY, miss my studio monitors/subwoofer! I can't wait to listen to all the new music I've discovered through good speakers when I come home. Literally hundreds of new songs I've found since moving away. Headphones are annoying, and I can't believe I've put up with them for this long. I've sort of gotten used to them being on my ears for hours on end, but it's not the same experience (nor is it as enjoyable) as listening through really good speakers.

Lol. I’m sure your family and friends will be super pleased that you miss your subwoofers more than them! 😀

Why are arranger keyboards still relevant? Am I missing something?

I say this because Yamaha just came out with the Genos 2, and honestly, I don't see much of a point.
 
Arrived home from London. Finished the task I was there to do.
Had a quick dinner of scrambled eggs on toast.
Early night beckons.
