I would show them ctrl+ 2 finger scroll to zoom in and out and on safari by leaving the cursor on top of a word and pressing ctrl+apple button +d and it shows the definition of that word.

Yes - Great feature!! Love how :apple: pays attention to detail.

Hmmm.... On mine, that combo does nothing!!!

In Safari or any CoCo application i.e Text Edit (correct me if I'm wrong):
1. Press and hold  + ctrl + D
2. Point curser to any text

That should do it. Its almost instant! Even on my dying 4.5 yrs old Powerbook G4 1.25 1Gb Ram.

you dont have to click a bunch to get it to the other page

also that you can scroll on a page without clicking on it.

Hold down "option" and use 2 finger scroll left and right, it goes forward and back in the browser on the selected tab :)

I've never had a pc user ask what's so cool about a Mac, but I have had many say "wow!" when I open my MBP. Seriously just the look of a MBP in comparison to any pc laptop shows it's cool factor.

Yup - and then you tell them how much it is and they go 'Oww!' and forget about every buying one. Then you say "I got this one refurbished, it was only £X", and they go "Yeah, but still, I could get this PC for a lot less". And they're right. And they don't care that the MBP is thinner, or what OSX is like to use - because they'd rather have another £500 in their pocket.

I just have my MBP 15" for just one week, and it just feels like how a pc allways should have been, but Microsoft never was able to manage to figure out. Before i got it, i read somewhere: "OS X is like rehab for Windows users", though it made me laugh, i didn't believe it for real... But now i think it just perfectly describes how i feel when i use my MBP... What a blessing this machine is...

what's so cool about Macbook Pro?

Since u ask about Macbook Pro... then i will drop the thing and said to him that the HD has motion sensor!

Hmm.. Oh I know why!!
There's not wrong with yours.. Probably cause I disabled most of Apple's keyboard shorts as some seem to conflict with my application. Under software, the OSX shorts still take priority - it's a little annoying...

great way to learn new words!

I have a roll of toiletpaper for that purpose..:D

Being a recent switcher and asked a lot this question, I do this:

I turn on my MBP and after around 47 seconds it can be used fully.... Without any programs loading in the background and whatever. This usually answers the question why I switched.. That and this:
  • Only the options that you need, so no bloated software
  • Most useful software is already included and not third party
  • No viruses (ok, we already discussed this one)
  • Easy install and remove
  • Quick look (I love it)
  • Two finger scroll (not that impressed by multitouch on the new MBPs)

I don't think I will ever go back to windows. Can't imagine..

I was an IT for the engineer department at UCSD.. and zonealarm was one of the mandatory programs for all the staff, along with symantec antivirus and adaware.

There's an issue right there!

Symantec - Junk
Adaware - Junk

Zone Alarm - Ehhh Its Aight.

1" thin and faster than an iMac. Great machines (as are the iMacs).

Oh, and to impress your Windows friend, according to PC World magazine, a Mac is the fastest Windows laptop on the planet. That's the MacBook Pro my friend.

The speed is what sold my wife and I. And not just CPU speed, the whole experience seems to move at a much quicker rate than any Windows machine I've ever used (and I still use a Xeon XP workstation). Seemless would be a good word to describe it I guess. Simplicity is another... I spent lots of $$$ and time trying to get one of our PCs to talk to our Sony TV and the results were less than spectacular. I connected our Mini to the same TV and POW, surfing the web in 46" goodness. No muss, no fuss.

Video editing - the original reason for the MBP purchase. Talking with my IT friends, I couldn't get a definate answer as to what I needed PC wise to transfer, edit, and burn movies from our video footage. My Mac friends said it was easy = ANY Intel Mac and Final Cut Express and or Pro. And so far, I haven't had any stumbles, issues, or problems - not to sound like a fanboy, but it just works.

Dual OS - just because. If I need a Windows app (read GAMES), no problem.

Design - I'm an Industrial Designer by trade - MBP was an easy choice.

Assuming Apple hardware doesn't get any worse in the coming years, I have no plans on going back (hell, even if it does get worse I probably won't go back!). I cringe driving into work knowing I'm forced to deal with XP.
