I wish I were.....

EDIT: I guess I should clarify slightly, I didn't buy on margin or anything, so I'm not going to get my thumbs repossessed, but certainly isn't helping me with my future "freedom from work" plans :p

Wow, I'm truly sorry.

Why would you invest so much in currency? I realize you couldn't have known it was nearly at what would become the all-time high and drift lower from there, but it still seems incredibly risky...

Best: Macbook. It's the first computer i've had which has actually lasted more than 2 years without me feeling the need to upgrade it. And I still haven't.

Worst: Possibly going to university. Completed the first year of a Computer Science degree before realizing I didn't want to do it and left.

Nope. Lost everything including my house and had to start again from scratch. It was... an interesting time.
My husband and I went to a business seminar 2 years ago. There were self-made millionaires there as well as people with nothing that were just getting started. It was very humbling to hear about all the millions that the most successful ones had made and lost! Good for you, skunk, for not letting it break you.:)

Worst investment definitely was bad health insurance. Once I became an adult I didn't do any comparison shopping for different plans, I just stuck with the insurance plan that my parents already had me on as I was aging out of being a kid. I knew it was really high in absolute terms, but everyone is always complaining about the price of insurance so I thought everyone must be paying about that same price, so I didn't know how insanely high it was relative to what most other people pay.

I really have been very super busy with really important things over the past bunch of years, so I can't blame myself much for overpaying for so long. But holy cow! Now that I'm finally set up enough that I can start attending to things like shopping for the best insurance plan, Geez! I can't tell you the actual number I was paying per month because it's too embarrassing, but suffice it to say, I've wasted a *LOT* of money on this overpriced plan over the years.

And the coverage wasn't even that great!

Best: AS of this morning I returned 50k on shorting Lehman Bro's stocks :)

Worst... I made a forum on it... FNM and FRE. lost 243k, because apparently I was in a loooooooong line of people to sell those EXACT shares, go figure, and did not get my shares physically sold until after about 12 mins of open market... H-A-M-M-E-R-E-D....

To the OP: If we're talking in the strict investment-can-mean-anything-you-put-into-something-to-get-something-back philosophy, I would say my MBP is near the top of the list; Also, my car - with it I was able to take a better job and thus have more moolah..

Worst? Tough one... Bless me I'm being so optimistic I can't think of one ;)

You lost a quarter mil on the F&F meltdown? And then, after taking that bath, you remained so confident in your own prescience concerning the financial sector that you bought puts on LEH?

And aren't you like 17?

Out of curiosity, at what price did you buy in?

best investment... maybe that radar detector I used to drive around with - it saved me a few times.

worst - Lucent stock - actually I bought it, and over the years it quadrupled my original investment, then crashed over 90%.

a brand new Honda civic this year. If I had to do it all over again, I'd buy a few years old.

I too questioned this until I saw this.

I bought 100 shares of Be Inc. (makers of BeOS) at $5.00, thinking there would be some huge payout when they won their lawsuit against Microsoft. The payoff wasn't that large, and they were sold to Palm Inc. for chump change. In other words, I lost it all. :(

I never would regard a car as an investment unless it's the antique/collector type thing. Your Honda Civic and my Ford Focus are expenses.
