What's the best way for me to (pre)order the new iPhone?

Honestly (especially in USA). With Most of the major carriers ending subsidized upgrades. Plus no revolution screen size change (iPhone 2017 supposed to look similar to last two iPhones).

I just don't see much pent up demand for the new iPhone.

Think the iPhone 2014 launch will be the peak iPhone pre sale era.

The 6S was easily ordered even 4-5 days after pre order sales were announced. The 6S plus had a 1-2 week wait. But nothing major like in years past and I could walk into Apple Store on Saturday after launch and still get a 6S easily. The 6S plus was easily obtainable 2 weeks after launch

I know this might come off as a semi snarky comment, but it's not intended to be so.

Here goes:

If ones finances are so tight that they can't float $200 of their own savings to buy a new iPhone without having to sell an old one to do so... Maybe buying an expensive new iPhone on launch day is not a good idea.
Just sayin. It's never a good thing to live right on the edge of bankruptcy just for a fancy Apple gadget that's not even needed.

Thanks so much, I had no idea you could preorder for in store pickup (and pay) but this is exactly what I'm looking for! There's an Apple Store right by my work too, so it would be amazingly convenient for me to swing by afterwards.
Best of luck! If things go like last year you should have a very easy time. I live in the MA/NH border and the NH stores always sell out incredibly fast and have the longest lines due to no sales tax.

I think store pickup was available on some models still the next day. Rose gold went very fast though.

The way some of the stores deal with lines is give you cards. This store handed out cards around 7am (what I was told) and you could come back at any time during the day, much like the the in store reserves.

I don't think that's the case here. For me I wouldn't want a $200 apple gift card. I wouldn't use it. Ever (or until the next phone release, so in stuck with $200 to Apple for a year, at least. No thanks ).

So the new iPhone is right around the corner and I figured it was time to get the answer to this question. Assuming I even like the new iPhone and want it, I'm going to want to trade in my 6 to put some cash toward the new purchase. I've done Craigslist and the like before, but this time I just want the easiest method and will be trading in my 6 to Apple for the ~$200 gift card.

However, Im not sure if there's a way to trade-in via that method and still preorder so that I can put the gift card toward the purchase. I can't be without a phone, so I can't trade-in right before preorders start a week prior to the release. However if I wait till after I preorder, then I can't put this gift card toward the purchase.

Is there a way around this? Is it possible to preorder through Apple for an in store pickup and not pay until I get to the store? Am I better off just waiting a while and going to the Apple Store normally to do the trade in a few weeks after release?

Thanks for the help!
Perhaps you misunderstand the phrase "right around the corner."

Please tell me where I can buy a new iphone for $200? I might wait in line just for that considering the 6S is $649 at the Apple store.
