So here's my situation. I took a video on my 13 Pro Max that's recorded in 4K 60fps. The video turned out excellent and I want to store a copy of the video on an external drive. I have a Mac and I usually transfer photos and video using Air Drop. This normally works good but the video I'm trying to save is 14GB in size. I can still use Air Drop to transfer the video to my Mac but the video seems like it's getting compressed once it gets to my Mac. The video size goes from 14GB to 3.98GB. This has me thinking the video's resolution must be degraded since the size of the file is being reduced.

So, my question is. How can I transfer the regular 14GB file to my Mac without any sort of file compression?

You could upload it to iCloud Drive then download it from there on to your Mac. Then delete it off of iCloud.
Or you could use a file transfer app such as File Browser to send it from your iPhone to your Mac (after you set up File Browser to do it).

The most efficient way is to directly transfer it to the Mac over your local Wifi network. Set up file sharing on the Mac, then go to the Files app on the phone and connect to to the Mac. You should then be able to choose a shared folder on the Mac as a destination in the share sheet in the Photo app.

You can of course also transfer it via USB cable, but depending on your Wifi it may be slower (and is definitely old-fashioned ;)).

I've had this same question for a few days and was about to ask it then saw this thread. This worked for me with a 100Mb video so I'll a big file tomorrow and see how stable/fast it is. Have just received a 13P 256Gb and being able to offload big 4k videos easily and reliably will be a game changer.

BTW, I also found this https://ioshacker.com/news/connect-ios-files-app-with-mac-via-smb helpful, ie using the smb:// name when connecting to server using Files.
