What's the difference Assign to All/None desktops

Can someone explain the difference between assigning to all desktops. The default is None.

Even if I assign Finder to All spaces when I click Finder on the Dock the desktop will be changed to the last desktop where Finder was open. (this is the same behavior as if it is None)

When an application is assigned to a specific desktop then that application will always be in and, if closed, subsequently open in that desktop unless that desktop is closed.

Assigning an application to all desktops will make that application window move to the active desktop, useful if you always want to see your IM buddy list or a to-do regardless of the desktop you're active in.

Just create 3 or 4 desktops in Mission Control and play around with the functionality 🙂
