Whats the difference between redsn0w and using pwnagetool?

easier to use than pwnage tool, like quickpwn
and also the only option for PC right now, as pwnage tool is mac only at this time

redSnow is for iPhone 3G & second gen. iPod Touch too right? The instructions said to hole "Shift" key and click "Restore" on a Mac. Do they mean "option" and click "restore"? I ask because I used option to change the carrier file for hacking the tethering feature.

I also have a question. Can you use redsn0w to unlock your phone, but not have the pineapple logo and cydia? I don't need any of that stuff, all I need is to be able to use another sim card with my iphone 3GS.
