What is the cut off time for Apple after which they can't change their product name? (e.g. 1-2 weeks before launch - or much earlier due to manufacturing, etc?) When they were about to announce iPad 3 - we expected iPad HD / etc - just curious.

I'd assume they can't change it once the phones go into manufacturing around July. The boxes are being made and to make new boxes would cost a ton of money. I would assume they'd have this sorted out well in advance though. I'm sure they already have a name ready to go at this point.

Hisotrically it has only even been boxes that said the specific name of their product. Even then, we have seen some boxes just say "iphone" (as an example). I don't remember which generation this was (edit: the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus boxes only said "iPhone"), but I am not referring to the first. So really, if they are undecided, they could easily call the next product "iPhone" on the box and literature, and decide to give it a more specific name later.
