What’s the point of having different users account on Apple TV if when I switch from one account to another I still see only my photos and not the photos of the account I logged in?

Talking about iCloud photos.

On Apple TV 14.0.2

Cheers

Just to be sure I understand your question, you have two Apple IDs. For each of those Apple IDs, you also have iCloud Photos enabled, and the photos are different for each of those accounts. Is that right?

Then you are signing out of Apple TV with one Apple ID and signing in with another, and want to be able to view the iCloud Photos for that Apple ID only, except you are seeing the photos from the first Apple ID?

Not sure of the technical reason but at the moment only iCloud photos associated with the default account can be shown. iCloud is only used to save app data for the other accounts.

You can’t actually enable iCloud photos for each account, only the default account. Hopefully that changes in the future.

I'm not really following you. You can sign out of one Apple ID and sign in with another. What do you mean by "default account"?

Ok, so:

Two users on Apple TV

Two different iCloud accounts associated with each user

I switch between user accounts (with fast switching) and on both I still see my own photos (I’m the default account).

Not bad for the privacy company 🙄

This is bizarre... thanks for confirming

the appleTV allows you to have multiple accounts signed in at once.
no sign out needed, but it is limited in what the secondary accounts access.

if you read the descriptions to the left under the big aTV, you'll see it written out for you
when over the "default user"
The info on the AppleTV's menu said:
In addition to they user's media, Up next and game stern, the default user's iCloud account is used for photos, sign in with apple, one home screen and homekit

while under additional users
The info on the AppleTV's menu also said:
Add a new user to this Apple TV to access there shows, movies, up next, app data in iCloud, and Game Center account.

You could have the secondary user share an album with the default

Basically useless then, thanks for clarifying!

I agree that it should provide full account switching when you change profiles. They do it for gaming, so clearly there's an understanding that different users would want to see their own content. Makes little sense to me why photos, games, and everything else wouldn't also swap between profiles.
