What’s the point of the Brightness setting?

I have the brightness setting for my series 4 set to the lowest setting but the Apple Watch still adjusts the brightness of the watch’s display automatically depending on the surrounding ambient light conditions so what does that brightness setting actually do then? It seems that the brightness of the display automatically changes regardless of what that brightness setting is set to as I mentioned above

Same as on the phone it’s less aggressive and doesn’t adjust so dramatically downwards or upwards depending on the setting. The default will also be lower or higher depending on your preference.
