Wow....they've dropped quite a bit in the couple years since I bought a spare
Yeah... I kind of lost track of time. But my Amazon purchase shows I bought mine in March 2012, so we are talking about an almost five year old model now.
 
As I recall, the actual version-1 wireless keyboard used 3 AA batteries, whereas the next version used only 2 AA batteries, as do the current models (other than the newest one with internal battery).

I would think the early 3-battery one would be pretty cheap by now on eBay.

Right you are... good catch. I did not remember them being that old. The A1255 looks like around $20 on eBay also.
 
I no longer have one of the 3-battery aluminum wireless keyboards as it was sold with the computer it came with.

I do, however, still have one of the really old white plastic full size wireless keyboards with numeric pad ... it is in the original box and should still work (haven't tried it lately). :cool::)
