So now that iLife '05 and iWork are announced and available for pre-order, what is to happen with new computers purchased today? It seems like if you buy the Mac Mini you get iLife '05, but if you were to buy an iBook, you get iLife '04. What gives? Is there any point in phoning in an order and asking for the newer iLife to be thrown in?

Today's announcement of the Mac Mini has pretty much sold me on another iBook, since it too is using the 9200; clearly Tiger will not be too encumbered by the absence of a Core Image compatible graphics card, otherwise they would have stuck something else in there like NVIDIA card in the 12" PB.

what about a mac bought at the end of december? would it be eligible for the ilife upgrade? im guessing it would because of the proof of purchase thingies for ilife in the box. would it be eligible for a free copy of iwork?

according to the site it says:

If you purchased iLife ’04 (M9364LL/A, M9466LL/A, M9364Z/A, M9466Z/A) on or after January 11, 2005, you are eligible to participate in this program.
