As per title. Anyone know what it is? It's annoying me as it looks a little messy compared with the flushness of OSX. The little black thing next to Help.

I think it is the scripting icon. Did you click it to see what it shows?

Lol should have explained a little better.

Picture here. At a guess it's for my ipod touch remote?

But unsure how to get rid of it.

Yeah, I think those are scripts, and that icon lists them for you.

Yes it is because you have scripts

To get rid of the menu you need to delete ~/Library/iTunes/Scripts but you'll of course lose the scripts then

You can probably just hold down the command key and drag it off of the menu.

You can't. Didn't think you could but I tried anyway, and no luck.

Here's a better way to deal with the Script icon.

Go to Applications, and select AppleScript Utility in the AppleScript folder. This will bring up the AppleScript utility, much like a System Preference pane. In the bottom half (on Leopard anyway), you will find a checkbox for "Show Script menu in menu bar." Uncheck it, and poof! No more annoying icon, and you haven't lost any important scripts either.
