in the bottom left of the Finder?
It means you are in icon view.
i see now...what would the purpose of that be exactly?
I've never really understood why they put that there. Obviously I'm in icon view.
I don't know. I really don't think it does anything, and there isn't a similar one for any other view.
Is this a feature in SL? I am not seeing this in Leopard.
I'm pretty sure it was there in Leopard.
I dont have it either
Yep, except it had a different icon.
It was there, and it had the same icon.
I think this is the Snap to Grid icon. the Icon View icon is unchanged from Leopard...
It means you have your icons arranged in View Options. If you change that setting to none the icons go away. Similarly if you arrange by snapping to grid you get the grid icon there.
Edit: It is there in Leopard, I haven't received my Snow Leopard disk yet but I assume it will work the same.
