Not fixed

I just checked the site at 9:02 central, and it still has the Apple.com Site Index. A goof by an updater?

Seems to be working fine for me now... could just be maintenence...

the whole website is acting very strangely. i keep getting connectioon refusals to Mac.com and the site index shows up as the homepage every once in a while still. either something is coming out which needs some new webspace, or someone is getting fired.

The store seems to be up.

The Apple.com website seems to be up.

mac.com seems to be up and running.

Probably there was an intense amount of traffic on the site. Remember around/after the times of MWNY on this site? Man, what a load of traffic that was.

The iPod updater was what was added last night. And yes you can download it straight from the website. One Caveat, it is only for Mac OS X.

All right. The Apple main website redirects to what sparkley mentioned.

This all might have something to do with new PowerMacs, for whatever reason.

These pages come up differently (note, no http)

www.apple.com/
www.apple.com

I think it's just a config issue with Apache.

I guess that's fixed now.

Both links w/ and w/o http linked directly to the Apple website.

Is there a problem with different browsers with Apache?

Not just the way you type it

If you go to www.apple.com (or http://www.apple.com) and it didn't bring you to the Site Map/Index, then try this:

Click on the Apple tab, wait for the refresh, then repeat.

Eventually, you'll see it serve up the Site Map.

I noticed this problem two days ago. I thought there was something wrong with my browsers (I tried several) or with my connection to the Net.

Glad to see it wasn't just me, this time.

On some other sites, they discuss this in addition to some other things and point to this as another possible "big" change that is in the works for an announcement on the 13th (my Birthday, 33... ugh.)

To add a little more speculation (fuel to the fire), if you do get the Site Map, under the Apple Store it has listed Power Mac G4 -- is there another type of Power Mac other than G4?
