There are almost no new games coming out. The only good one coming out anytime soon is resistance: retribution, and the only games worth buying are NFS:U, SW:Force unleashed, well and thats about it, what the hell is going on???

Meh, really? I tried the demo of R:R but the controls were horrible and the graphics, whilst quite detailed had too much dither.
Personally I'm looking forward to MotorStorm and LBP and clearing the backlog of PSP games.

Actually R:R is pretty fun, and I'm used to the controls since i've been playing starwars battle front on my psp for ages

Same, it was the first game I got for the PSP. But the analogue stick+face buttons for look does not work at all for me.

yeah LPB is Coming out Motorstorm Killzone liberation 2. rumors are going on about God of war II and the same for a new GTA game or two

The PSP isn't the most popular system, but it still does have some gems. If you can't wait for new games why don't you buy some old ones? I know God of War is going to drop to $20 in April.

That they've talked about it? There's nothing solid there, especially given Kollers history of hyperbole and FUD.

Sony's in a bad way right now. The PS3 is fighting for its life against the cheaper 360 as well as the infinitely more inexpensive Wii. The PSP while a capable system, just can't keep up with the DS.

I love my PSP, but on the whole, I much prefer playing my DS for the bigger selection of games. My PS3 has been relegated to Blu-Ray player lately, and will likely stay that way for the foreseeable future.

Having more processing power and graphical prowess just isn't going to cut it anymore. People want to spend the least amount of money possible and want those killer titles, and save for a few wonderful ones like MGS and LBP, the PS3 just doesn't have it. If I were Sony at this point, I'd release a version of the PS3 sans BD drive. I bet a lot more people would pick it up, and developers would really start looking into making more games for it.

I don't know what can be done for the PSP at this point though. I'll keep enjoying it and know that I'll still have a large library of games to chose from that I'll be able to buy at decent prices.

You are either
1. Trying to incite a flame war
2. Really uninformed
or
3. Believe all the FUD from blogs and sites like Kraptaku.

Sony is not fighting for its life, it may be fighting for the 2nd spot in some markets, but its sales are doing fine. The PS3 is not a Dreamcast, its not going anywhere, nor is it fighting to keep any sort of "life" you are wrongly eluding to.

The PS3 has beat the Wii in its home market more than a few times, and continues its dominance over the 360 there. The PS3 sales while less than Sony expected is nothing to be ashamed of considering the PS3's price point. Nor are its sales numbers anything to assume that its fighting for its life. I suggest you get your facts straight before making such a bold claim.

Yes... hurting real bad.. fighting for its life *chuckles* get your facts straight please.

And this was a change from when? This thing has always been pretty weak when it came to releases. The whole UMD thing was stupid - I hope they release a new PSP w/ ONLY digital distribution. I'd buy one!

e2studios, you're showing Japan sales #s. Those really aren't as relevant anymore with the global / US market being so much larger. Sony is still fighting the fight in the US, but the most recent NPD charts show the 360 still outselling it fairly decently.

Oh well, I love my PS3 - I hope it gains some more traction.

LocoRoco 2...only from Feb for US...looks worth the pick up

Resistance looked good...controls are worrisome(its a psp shorter after all!) but you can use the dualshock 3 is you have a newer PSP and PS3..looks sort of promising

yeah LPB is Coming out Motorstorm Killzone liberation 2.
Thats more than enough reason to own a psp, imo.

Correct. Sure the 360 has sold more consoles, but it was out a year longer, and now the 3 year warranty is out for a good bit of consoles and some people have to re-buy a 360. Even so, comparing the ps3 sales to the ps2 shows an extremely similar trend: both started out very slowly but kept selling faster. Also, if you compare the 360's year 2 sales with the ps3's you can see that they are almost exactly the same, perhaps a few thousand difference between them. The media will continue to spread FUD about the ps3 until it is in the lead, then they will act like the backed it up the whole time.

.

Agreed...PSP is worth the price w/ the current and upcoming games

Yes, but at a certain point, let that one go. It hasn't stop the Wii from outselling both
and now the 3 year warranty is out for a good bit of consoles and some people have to re-buy a 360.

Again, I'll say let that one go. Old xbox 360 likely were fixed before the 3 years was up or are fine.

Even so, comparing the ps3 sales to the ps2 shows an extremely similar trend: both started out very slowly but kept selling faster.

I hope you're not talking about in North America.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/02/year-over-year-ps3-sales-drop-bad-news-for-sony.ars

Admittedly that was during a rough time for the economy in general, so I wouldn't over read into it.

The media will continue to spread FUD about the ps3 until it is in the lead, then they will act like the backed it up the whole time.
The media!!1!1 Oh nozz
Please, stop that arguement right there. The PS3 isn't doing poorly, but its no PS2. Certainly Sony won't have the market share they did last generation(and thats fine, the PS3 is still a fun console, and was worth buying for me)

LocoRoco 2...only from Feb for US...looks worth the pick up

Oh definitely. Everything in that game is perfect, apart from the BuiBui Fort levels which are just too frustrating for me . It's not the same as LocoRoco 1, there are fewer levels but they're much bigger (average completion time per level is 10 minutes for me, 5 on LR1) and theres a lot of backtracking. Much more deeper and involving game.

Oh and to sorta back Mr. e² although I don't have links to confirm this... But isn't the PS3 doing better in Europe than the 360? I'm sure I read that its only in the US that the 360 surpasses the PS3.*

*This is going off faded memories so I apologise if I's hella wrong.

The PS3 isn't doing poorly, but its no PS2.)

Actually, it is. When the ps2 came out everyone said it was doomed and the gamecube/dreamcast/xbox was going to take over and sony didnt stand a chance. The exact same thing is happening now.

I thought we were discussing numbers, not what people said-
http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=PS2&reg1=All&cons2=PS3&reg2=All&cons3=PS&reg3=All&weeks=156
(threw the PS1 in there for good measure.)

But as always these don't affect how much you like a console. Heck my fave console last gen was the GC :D, this gen its either the DS or PSP.

Those numbers are completely respectable. Last gen the ps2 really didnt have much competition, and this gen the 360 had a year head start, so i really dont see how anyone can logically conclude that the ps3 is struggling to survive.

While we are at it, look at this:
http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=PS3&reg1=All&cons2=X360&reg2=All&cons3=&reg3=All&weeks=156

This thread got derailed badly. The psp has great games with more on the horizon. If you hack your psp you can play psx, snes, gba, genesis, etc games on it as well. I just installed Opera Mini on mine. Thats whats up with the psp.

The PSP isn't the most popular system, but it still does have some gems. If you can't wait for new games why don't you buy some old ones? I know God of War is going to drop to $20 in April.

I'm just speaking about the situation, i could swear that there used to be more games. I still have PoP, SSX, NFS:U, Syphon filter and R:R to finish. But its frustrating to see games that would go perfectly on a psp (prince of persia) released on a ds which sucks.

That graph shows the PS3 doing worse then the PS2

No one here is saying the PS3 is doomed, its just not doing to pull a PS2.

You are either
1. Trying to incite a flame war

3. Believe all the FUD from blogs and sites like Kraptaku.

1. No
2. Possibly, but I go by what I see.
3. No, I have better things to do with my free time than read blogs and other sites. FWIW, just seeing you change the name to "Kraptaku" removes any credibility your argument has in my eyes. What are you, 12?

Also, why quote numbers from Famitsu? I don't care how sales are going in Japan, I care how sales are going in the US. Take away LBP, R2 and MGS (aside from the multi-platform titles) and what does the PS3 have? Not a whole lot from where I'm sitting.

Don't get me wrong, I love my PS3. I have a blast with it every time I fire it up, whether it is to play some games or watch a BD title, but it pales in comparison when it comes to title libraries against the 360, and the Wii is still flying off the shelf as fast as retailers can get them up, whereas everywhere I go, I see piles of PS3 boxes sitting there.

Well, one thing that a lot of people don't take into account is that the PS2 didn't hit 'critical mass' until the price-point was dropped to $199. Once Sony did that, the PS2 really flourished.

Take away LBP, R2 and MGS (aside from the multi-platform titles) and what does the PS3 have? Not a whole lot from where I'm sitting.
What the hell kind of argument is that? So lets do this: Take away Halo, Gears, and (other 360 exclusive of your choice) and what does the 360 have going for it? We can sit here all day and negate the good parts of each console claiming that it proves our point, but it doesnt.
Btw, the ps3 would still have Killzone 2, Uncharted, and Ratchet and Clank, as well as a huge lineup in 2009.
