This thread is beginning to resemble the Nikon screw-drive or not thread... and certainly losing the original point. I'd suggest a "Canon is better than Everyone else" thread so we can keep that stuff out of these kinds of threads where someone is asking a question on another subject... the point-by-point arguing makes me wonder if someone is seeking some attention...

I am actually getting to that thread in a few minutes.
and certainly losing the original point.
Someone else just posted with issues with their fast lens. The topic at hand is pretty well contained.

Are you being facetious?

I just skimmed every post and they are all almost on topic and relevant.

The fact that you came in to post this actually throws it out of whack more than anyone else has.
the point-by-point arguing makes me wonder if someone is seeking some attention...
I believe in being thorough and accounting for things people say.

You're not required to "account for things other people say." Is it that important to "correct" everyone else? Assuming you're always right in the first place... that is?

No, of course not, but I choose to.

I wouldn't use the word important to describe that. More like I want to do so, if I find issue with what someone said.

And if you are wondering, I don't do it in real life. Mostly because you can't quote people in real life.

Things written online stay online a long time. There's too much misinformation. A little correcting doesn't hurt.

Fair enough... but to be honest (and yes, this is off-topic) too much of the point-by-point countering starts to feed off of itself, and threads break down into meaningless one-upsmanship where there is no end in sight, and runs the risk of seeming like a scoring contest where there has to be a winner. I'm sure there are quite a few of us here who can play that game, but it really affects the tenor of this forum in my opinion... others may disagree. Why can't you just make your point, and feel secure in that without turning every thread you're involved in into a major debate on the merits of your chosen brand of photo gear or your own expertise? Not everyone always shares your opinion (or mine either) and sometimes we just have to let it go... at least that's the way I see it. Maybe you're just not aware of how it comes across, so I'm pointing it out. But, certainly you should go ahead and do whatever makes you happy.

Agreed. This thread has devolved from a discussion about someone's 50mm lens to a back-and-forth argument over personalities. For the sake of professionalism, let's try to answer the original poster's concerns, correct what needs correcting, and then move on.
