G5Unit, your original post describes me perfectly.

I just figured I was lazy, easily distracted, irritable, and maybe a little paranoid, but you're making me feel like there's something wrong with me!

Medical Student's Disorder

That's what is wrong with you.

MSD is when you self-diagnose yourself. Incorrectly.

I do funny things at times. Like I won't sleep because I'm worried/thinking too much. I cannot turn my brain off, though I don't drink or do drugs because I don't want the way it works to change - even temporarily.

I go to work on my coursework (a game) and it's like... I can easily make this. But I just wont. I'll do something else, like organise my iPhoto library or whatever.

But it's normal. I think!

I don't think anyone should be drawing any conclusions in this thread.

Don't misdiagnose yourself...but don't just say you're normal and walk away. People with genuine disabilities find it frustrating when people dismiss them as normal because they appear normal from the outside.

I don't see how anyone here can make any kind of judgement on this. If you are worried about yourself go and talk it through with your family doctor.

Just go to a doctor and explain what you're experiencing. Some of it may be normal, some of it may be symptoms of various things. But you'll feel better once a professional is on the case, and you'll most likely get answers and help, if you need it.

Keep us posted, it would be nice to hear how it works out.

I have Dyspraxia and Dysgraphia and while mainly affecting my writing speed, it has many other affects as well. Things like not being able to get to sleep for hours due to my brain being constantly in action and deliberately not doing my coursework when i could easily finish it in a short space of time.

If these issues don't go away soon on their own, are causing you a great deal of distress (almost constantly) and aren't very manageable, you should maybe see a professional.

Having all this stuff going on and on can't be doing any good to your quality of life. You could get an assessment just to make sure nothing significant actually is wrong and be more at ease. Most of us at MR can't really point out what's wrong with much accuracy, since most of us aren't specialists.

At this point, if things don't seem like they're getting better (and haven't been any better in a long time) and you want a good opinion, it would be best to see a cognitive-behavioral therapist with added experience in clinical psychology. He/she could help you get through this phase and, if applicable, point out if you seem to have a particular 'disorder' worth investigating.

IMO, bipolar disorder is impossible from what you've described, and OCD or ADHD are pretty unlikely. Sounds more like anxiety of some sort, and cognitive-behavioral therapy should be the best choice for that.

That said, hope things get better for you, if they haven't already :)
If you want, you could update us on the situation, it's been over a month.

Well I was kind of hoping this thread would get deleted:eek:

It's really just school that seems to cause it. This past week it's been spring break and I have had the best time of my life. Just because I didn;t have to think about school.
