it doesn't turn on anymore and when i charge it it get's super hot but doesn't turn on? it's a 3rd gen ipod (i think, the one with the red buttons under the screen) do i need a new battery or should i just dump it and get a new one?

have you tried resetting it?
does your computer recognize it?

nope, the computer doesn't recognize it... it's dead... completely... i guess it's time for a new iPod 🙁 or 🙂
