This is a 17" MacBook Pro - about 3 years old. Once the screen starts doing this, I basically lose all functionality. Has anyone seen this before?

It's probably this issue and I think you can still get it repaired for free. Mine had it too.

Thank you very much! I took it to my local Apple Store and they fixed it free of charge. $950.00.. Logic board. The second time it's gone on this computer... Strange.. In any event, I was less than one year out of my regular Apple Care warranty.
