I have just bought a LG 47LE8900 and upgraded from a 28"JVC CRT.

I had my Apple TV plugged in via composite into my old TV and on certain tracks with bass all was well. I have just plugged in the Apple TV into my new TV played some songs and the bass is missing.

So I plugged in my Harmon Kardon Soundsticks 2.1 system into the headphone jack of the TV and still quite tinny.

As a test I played the same song on my iPhone direct into the 2.1 system and I have lots of bass.

So because the speakers on the slim TV are rubbish does this mean the output from the headphone socket will also be rubbish?

Have you tried to connect your iPhone to the TV's audio input? If that also sounds weak then it may be a problem with the TV's speakers. If you are listening to music, you also need to make certain that you haven't turned down the audio output level on the Apple TV (volume control on music is an option on the Apple TV -- look under the Settings -> Audio & Video menu item to turn it on or off).

Hi!

I have now plugged my Audioengine A2's into the TV and we have bass again. I think these speakers have little amps in them so that might be why but I'm surprised the Soundsticks didn't sound very good. Strange
