27.5 megabits per sec! Who can beat that?!
I accept your challenge.

Ready... set... Go!

Well, ok, you beat me. I got 1.9Mbps. But you only beat me by a factor of 14.5!

What kind of connection do you have?

He has to have T1/T3 (there is no T2 is there?)

I really doubt he has a main line from the company like AT&T OC768...

Or if you run your own ISP...

I myself get 2.6 megabits per second on bandwitch place...

DSL reports:
Your download speed : 2405564 bps, or 2405 kbps.
A 293.6 KB/sec transfer rate.

Not usual for this time of day, normally a lot higher.

38.2 kbits/sec. The fastest dial-up so far. That's cuz I'm dialing into my school and since most people here don't realize they can (and probably wouldn't want to either) the connection to the school is quite nice. I am sharing this 24/7 connection with 3 others though, so it can bog down a bit.

hehe. I have an optic fibre connection. It's supposed to work at 100mb/s. Getting common here in Tokyo.

It does, but only by a few microseconds. Just don't make a big deal out of that difference. I know of a few mathematical perfectionists who noticed a difference between their multiple T1 lines and their dial-up modem. They wanted to sell their modem for $50 per rant. When the house inspector came by the following week, he offered to pay these guys for cable and to shut up. :D

Lol... that's pretty funny.

I'm at some silly college campus... Right now I'm fudging between 6.4 and 6.6 each time. I'll try DSL reports now...

It's telling me 4743 / 2733...
Then again, I have to go all the way across the f***ing country to do the test (I'm on east coast)

404 kbs

"above average"

pretty good for DSL I guess

EDIT:

Just tried it again and got a 412, which was "great" according to their sophisticated ranking system :)

At home: 1.6 Mbps.

DSL Reports:
1.4 Down, 400 Up. No wonder my KDX server is so slow - that's only 50 K across the whole server.

Yeah, I had to go across the world. (How much of a difference does that make?)

Is there any other way to check it?

Here's mine:
Your download speed : 1004261 bps, or 1004 kbps.
A 122.5 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 477611 bps, or 477 kbps.

But if you think about it logically this test *only* makes sense to east coast users because does every site you go to or every place you get data from are on the east coast?

I don't think so.

Go download a file... find out how long it took... ect.

Get the file off of some server with a ton of bandwidth

I recently found out that a friend of mine has a 100Mb connection, which is only 37700 times faster than what I have.

I wish my connection was as fast as some of you guys. I haven't run the test yet, but my connection's rated at 128 kilobits :(

Still, it's better than dialup.
