It uses a standard Micro-B USB 3.0 connector.

It's standard USB 3.0 and backwards compatible with older USB chargers and cables. Too confusing for the average person so probably why they switched back.

I'm aware that it's standard USB 3, but how many USB3's do you see on phones and what value did that switch get us again? I also look at "If I'm not carrying a cable can borrow one from the 8 or so folks in my group in a pinch?". USB3 is hardly wildly popular.

Obviously Samsung got complaints, because we're back to Micro on the Note 4.

Poor battery life.

Remember the days of nokia phones lasting all week.

I would love 48h+ battery life for all my devices.

Universal chargers annoy me too eventually everyone will upgrade to an iPhone 5 or higher leaving the 30 pin to die.

I think we'll agree to disagree. I personally consider the usage of a connector that falls out of the generally accepted standard of use to be rolling your own.

By your logic using an E-Sata connector for example would be perfectly acceptable.

Back on topic a big peeve of mine is battery life. We have these amazing gadgets that we become slaves to, as far as charging is concerned.

I recently returned a moto 360 smartwatch in part because I just had to say no: I will not add another device that needs its battery charged daily. Especially when that device is a watch.

Every year or so I hear about this new "breakthrough battery tech" that will revolutionize the industry. Then I never hear about it again.

My original peeve was/is with Apple for not following the standard Micro USB that everyone else uses. When they changed chargers, that is when they should have made the jump, but they went to the Lightning charger instead, creating a third type of charger now.
