I find 50% or even a little less is perfectly fine indoors. Much higher and the retina display will scorch my retinas in a burning hellfire.

50-60 with Auto Brightness, although sometimes during the day if i'm outside or in a bright room, i have to turn it up to 100% manually.

I always keep mine @ 100% unless I wake up in bed then I adjust it to my eyes liking. And I still get approx. 10hrs

You mean 10 hours to charge I assume....

I have to admit, I love the "new" iPad screen, but the battery thing is killing me. Its a hassle to charge for 10 hours to get 6-7 hours of battery life. A HUGE step down from the iPad 2 with respect to battery.

mine takes about 5 hours to charge and lasts longer than 7 hours, so i don't know what you've been doing...

surely not when you go outside or in a bright room?

I charge them overnight usually so idk. The 3 does drain quite a bit faster than the 2. I haven't monitored the 3 that closely yet just averaged. It doesn't take 10 hrs to charge tho I'm usually in bed by 3/4 and when I wake up I just unplug it if I wake and it's @/ 100%

Yea, 3-5 hrs seems about right for charging fully (and this is from 1%)

I'm also one of those that likes it at 100%. Anything less seems like I'm not enjoying my iPad at its fullest. I've had the 1 and 2, and used them at 100% too. I'll admit it probably takes a big toll on my battery life. I'm sure I'm not getting 10 hours, but as long as it last me a whole day, it's not a concerned.

I started turning mine down now because it's horrible on the battery. I don't see how less than 80% is usable, but I chew through a full charge much too quickly when I do that. So I turned down to about 60%, which makes it uncomfortable to see. I'll probably sell this and just go back to using my Ipad2.

80 to 100%. My 51 year old, progressive lens wearing eyes need the brightness. The screen looks beautiful that bright to me, too.

All eyes are different, I guess. I'm 56 and have had two cataract operations, a scleral buckle and three vitrectomies and I have mine set lower than that at about 45%. But I can also see where someone might need the extra brightness.

I like my devices bright enough that, when I take them into my hands, I feel as if I am gazing upon the bright lord himself.

About 50-60% unless I am watching video at the gym. Then I am working with more like 70-90% depending on the show. House is super dark so it is brightest for that show.

Wow there's a lot of people who are setting the brightness at 100% here. I didn't think there'd be that many. For me, I normally use mine around 40 to 50%.

60%, auto=on. With auto=off the brightness goes way up. So the folks with the brightness at 50 or less probably have auto=off.
