It took my iPad 4 hours to go from 17% charge to 100%.
Is that typical?
That's absolutely normal as the iPad's battery is high capacity. It's going to take awhile, especially when you're using a USB port and not the power brick.
tl;dr yes it is normal.
Ok, but I was using the supplied power brick.
I just use it for the whole day and charge it over night. So I am not really sure how long it takes.
Too damn long when plugged into my computer (with high power USB ports).
In fact, this might be my biggest complaint. I love the battery life though, go figure...
Yeah, I agree!
I won't even try the USB ports anymore.
I guess I am just used to my iPhone charging back up so quickly.
I ran my iPad battery down to 0 last night, plugged it in to the provided wall charge, battery charged to 78% in 2h20m. I suspect the iPad would be fully charge in about 4 hours.
On the bright side, though, once the iPad starts getting broken in and you're not spending every waking second with it , you probably won't have to charge it every day and will get by with only charging it a couple of nights a week.
