I don't personally own the 16" MacBook Pro. However, I lug home a Lenovo L15 ThinkPad everyday for work. And lug it back to the office the next day. The joys of being on-call.

I don't really mind carrying the notebook. I have a 20 Liter Peak Design every day bag, and will admit that the 30 Liter bag (or equivalent) would be better. The MacBook Pro is smaller than my Lenovo in every dimension. Personally I'd go 16" for the screen size. Just get a nice bag to carry it in.

Personally, I like traveling light with my carry-on and keeping most of my things in a suitcase so it's easier to explore around the airport/station/etc.

What's your experience traveling with larger laptops?
Think that you have answered your own question. I've travelled extensively with notebooks from 12" to 17" with smaller generally being better from the frequent international travellers point of view. I currently have the M1 13" MBP which is ideal for travel, should I need more performance I'd opt for the new 14" MBP with 10 core CPU which strikes a fair balance.

The screen is too small to me on the 13”/14” MBPs for serious working, so I take both a 16” MBP and an 11” iPad Pro on long flights. I use the iPad on the plane, MBP at the office or hotel room.
I’m in big iPad Pro user on the plane so I basically would never think of using my MacBook in flight.

Question folks.. i travel this weekend and plan to fly with my iPad Pro, 14” work notebook, and a 16” MacBook Pro.

Any suggestions how to travel with this much equipment? Maybe I leave the mbp behind for the week. Just love the new computer.

A good shoulder bag or preferably backpack that's purposely designed for notebooks. When travelling I generally take two notebooks for redundancy purpose. Barring the weight it can also be problematic with some carriers due to the size. I've worked from the sub artic to the equator and a good bag for the HW is essential.

If just a one off I'd be inclined to leave the MBP at home and save the hassle:)

Forget shoulder bags.....unless you want to have high doctor and physio bills in the future!

i have to carry two laptops for a while for a client project. I got one of these with a shoulder strap. Made it much easier to get things in a out of my backpack or duffel for TSA security and when getting on/off the plane.

No affiliation. Just a happy customer. I‘ve got too many of their bags and cases over the years. They always outlast the hardware! They’re not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Is a valid point. They are OK for light loads, say a single 13" etc. I've a larger messenger bag, equally I don't look to carry it any more than I have to if fully loaded. I'm talking about from the car to the airport trolley, sometimes they are just easier access to unload for security.

Travelling with a lot of HW is really an art these days as security is instantly triggered. I look to make their life and mine as easy as possible with everything being bagged up within the backpack and easily accessible as required.

I do have a Peak Design Everyday bag but no chance i would fit a 16" MBP in there lol. I barely get the ipad pro in there with all my camera and drone gear!

This is more of a one off trip - Thanks all - convinced me to just leave the mbp.

I definitely would not have purchased the 16" if i had to travel regularly. Not only is it heavy it doesn't fit into conventual backpacks or even the front pocket of my carry on luggage made for notebooks lol

I am using this one for MBP 16”, 13” iPad pro, Headphones, Cables, Some clothes and lots more. And it all fits easily and the many pockets and compartments. It is my office on my back and highly recommended: https://www.everki.com/us_en/atlas-...-inch-to-15-6-inch-adaptable-compartment.html

For a one off is by far the better option :) I've travelled with dual 15"/17" notebooks and it's really headache to manage. I ultimately dropped to a high power notebook and a lightweight. As said the security aspect can be painful when tired and burnt out.

Sadly I don't dispute there's a genuine need and the vast majority are professional & level headed, equally at times I've said stop as the probing was clearly beyond the needs of public safety...

I think it will fit in most backpacks, certainly any designed to handle a 15". I've had my 17" in most of those I've tried.

That’s quite a bag.

Yah I also will be traveling with a toddler and dog on this remote work trip.

Well I need a home for my work computer, my iPad Pro, and my 16” mbp. I don’t think there is a bag out there that can handle all that.

I’m a cyclist so yes my arms are weak af 😔
