Hi, I'm thinking of getting the AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss for iPhone. What's your experience been with their claim process, especially while abroad (not in the U.S.)? After I recent trip in a foreign country I realized I needed my iPhone more than at home because my iPhone had my boarding pass, hotel reservation emails, calendar, etc. etc.

Was it easy to fill out the claim form? Does Apple make you come up with an inordinate number of "documents"? We probably have to file a police report? How quickly were you able to get a new iPhone, hopefully that very same day you put in a claim or perhaps the next day? Finally, do you think it's worth it for you, why or why not?

Thanks, will be pre-ordering tomorrow. :)

I think everything is pretty fast. You need to have find my activated otherwise no go.
That phone will be blacklisted and possibly blocked - ends up being a paper weight.

Apple does not fully support the theft and loss coverage plan. They resell it to a third party. AIG now, previously Asurion. Can fill out claim for via Apple Support but then goes to AIG from there to manage. Don’t know if it’s good or bad there.

I'm thinking now in a situation like when you're abroad, it'll be much faster to bite the bullet and buy and new iPhone. Who knows how long before our claim would be processed.

Aig is great company though when it comes to insurance handling.
