Since I've started using Mail instead of checking my email online, it seems pretty pointless to have GMail as my homepage. That means I need a new one, and I really can't decide what to have. I've tried using the BBC site, but it's not what I'm looking for, I don't think I want a news page.

What do all you guys have as your default home page?

I've had the BBC front page set as my home page for years, I kind of like catching odd bits of news and stuff.

They have a new customisable beta home page though, which you can configure to suit your tastes. It's just a shame you can't shift the great big BBC promo bit in the top right hand corner.

It used o be my own website, but then my *&#@$& hosting company iPower took it down due to their own error, so I;m thinking of switching to either Reuters or PoochCafe.com - I had google for the longest time.

I also used the BBC site for years. Mostly when I am cruising the internet I am looking for news of one kind or another and BBC used to be the best news site on the planet for most of that time.

Now I just use a blank though as I find BBC was taking forever to load half the time, and since I live outside of England I get the stupid advertisements now. You can get rid of them with an ad-blocker, but the page still takes the same long time to load as the blocker has to examine all the ad links and so forth before it strips them out.

I also try to avoid giving any kind of immoral companies my business even if it's just page hits and BBC's anti-Apple, we-love-Microsoft attitude lately just makes me cringe.

It's funny how just the knowledge that the BBC executives are total prats changes the way I see that page. It used to be my friendly news site and now, even though the page is exactly the same, it seems like dialing in to the evil empire when I happen to go there.

Slight modification of the cliche: iGoogle. Customised to have all my rumor-geekness in one place! Apart from fakesteve who deserves a special visit when you have time to enjoy it.

ps Just discovered Google reader- Not so special as an RSS reader on the mac, but it is a fantastic thing for the iPhone!;)
