Is it time for a new updated model yet? And new colours don't count.
Yeah, I know...it's not a Apple priority.
But May 2022 will be 18 months so maybe?

Here's my wish list:
-built-in battery (truly portable)
-detachable cord
-Aux jack
-slightly larger

I just want to see a good, stable, solid, HomePodOS software for once. I’d like to see the OG comeback in a version 2. Removable cable would be nice to easier snake it behind drywall or for replacement in case of damage.

I think HomePod OS is now under tvOS so I’m not sure how often that is overhauled.

But unfortunately Apple’s Home products still seem to be treated like a hobby. Hopefully something at WWDC.

I’ve heard it referred to as TVOS, HomePodOS, AudiOS, I don’t know what’s up or down anymore lol. I just say HomePodOS to minimize confusion.

But yeah, it seems like anything to with the Home just gets worse every year. The added features are great, if only they were reliable (i.e. intercom, doorbell chime, multiple users, default AppleTV audio etc). I do love what they did with the Home app for the Apple Watch though. Great update in that regard.

One thing that I would like to see on the next HomePod is an AUX port. I have a Homepod Mini as of right now, and the thing that would be nice is if I could hook it up to my speaker system.

Genuine question: how many HomePod owners are likely to chance buying another wireless speaker from Apple in the next decade? I certainly wouldn't.

To answer the OP's question, the absolute priority on the wish list is making the functionality rock solid.

Additionally:

Using buffering that makes playback faultless would also be a sensible thing, too.

Detachable power lead, along with 3.5mm jack/USB-C/Ethernet (or at least one of those) would be nice to have, for the regular moments that the HomePod is having wifi dramas, and to extend the lifespan of the devices (assuming they don't just die after a couple of years like the OG HomePods sometimes do).

The addition of a Sub Woofer, Stand alone or added to the HomePods similar to the originals. The ability to add to Home Theaters that are not using Apple TV, an (AUX port) and detachable power cord.

Native Sirius/XM integration. Won't happen, but I have have a couple of lifetime SiriusXM subs, and this is the main reason I won't buy a HomePod and I won't subscribe to Apple Music. Maybe Apple will buy Sirius one day and that will solve the problem.

  • the ability to use Siri -without an iCloud subscription to access my non-cloud personal music playlists
  • custom alarms and tones from my non-cloud person music playlists

Doesn't iTunes Match let you access your personal playlists via Siri? It did in the past...

Do you use any of those 4 as stereo pairs?

If you do, do you notice a delay when pausing or skipping songs, where one of the two HomePods respond faster?

Also, do you get a stutter/glitch usually at the 15 second mark precisely?

Out of interest, why do you want MagSafe on these, rather than just a removable power lead?

I have 2 stereo pairs, have never really noticed a delay. I am mostly using them as tv speakers for my lg c1

Reason I say MagSafe is because I am using MagSafe more and more with iPhone and AirPods. The simplicity of sticking on a MagSafe or even a wireless pad just appeals with HomePod mini, so I can just pick them and change room

It also wish it was more optimized to be used as one’s computer speakers. So it can be used with productivity apps and not just YouTube videos.
