What’s your ideal frame size if it were designed like an iPhone X, bezeless et all?

Assuming you could get a iPhone X like design, bezeless, with a notch et al, what sized physical outer frame would be ideal for you?

1. iPhone 5/5s/5c/SE

2. iPhone 6/6s/7/8

3. iPhone 6+/6s+/7+/8+

4. iPhone X

5. Bigger than iPhone 8+

6. Smaller than iPhone 5

For me it is iPhone 6/6s/7/8. X is way too big. More so with a case. Unfortunately they don’t/won’t make a X like design in the frame of an 8. And SE(2?) may be too small.

For me it would be a 5.5” screen with 16:9 ratio like the Plus phones but without bezels. Also a nice not oversaturated LCD screen with no PWM and white whites that don’t change when you tilt the phone slightly.

So you should vote 6+ even though it isn’t exactly the same thing you’re after. :)

I understand. There’s such a HUGE difference.

Umm the x is in the frame size of a 8.

Don’t knock a 18:9 aspect ratio until you try it. Specially with OLED displays which blacks are black . You get a taller display so articles, web pages is more on the screen and the black bars when you watch in landscape isn’t noticeable really since it would just look like the bezel.

My x screen my white is white even at angles so not sure what your talking about. I mean who cares even if it isn’t because who looks at their device at a 45° angle ?

I have tried it, I had an X for a couple of weeks. I found the phone to be unbalanced for one handed use as it’s too tall. When using it, I didn’t find the taller screen an advantage and surfing in landscape is horrible. Having had both 6 and 6S Plus, I much prefer the smaller 5.5” screen with 16:9 ratio but the form factor is just too large, if they just cut off the bezels it would be perfect for me. As to having the blacker blacks of OLED, as I’ve already said, this is not at all important to me whereas bright whites, no overbright colours, no blurry text when scrolling and no PWM are.

Bright whites Check
Overbright? Need an eye check?
Blurry text ? Where?
Meh

I had the 6 Plus and 7 and one is way to big and the other is way to small. The X is perfect. Like for real my hands are not Trump small but they aren't huge either and I can one hand my X fine

No. It isn’t.

The one on the Left is the X and the one on the Right is the 8 with the middle is the 8 Plus.

For all intent and purposes its almost exactly the same size. The slight size difference is a moot point.

The se feels incredible every time I fiddle with it
Beyond 7/8/x imo

I Would disagree Just in the sense the iPhone SE has somewhat sharp edges that are not that comfortable to hold at times, and I know I’m being very particular about that, but that was my experience. I much prefer the rounded/smoother corners with the iPhone 6 and up. But as far as form factor in comfortability holding for longer periods of time without hand fatigue, as some might experience with larger phones, the iPhone SE is an advantage.

Sharp edges are non issue cause I use apple leather case that smooths them

But raw, I would agree.

It’s the size that’s makes the grippy box-form work. If it were a large box and not curved like later models, for their size, agreed

iPhone X size.

When I use my iPhone 8, after using my X, the screen is just too small. There would have been a time when 4.7" would have been huge but by today's standards the 8 is a compact phone. I still use mine for music and reading books which it's fine at; any task requiring the use of the keyboard, though, is a penance. And I don't have fat fingers.

The iPhone X size is perfect, though, and it still feels comfortable in my jeans pocket.

I bought the Sony Z when it came out in 2013. It was a big phone with huge, sharp bezels. Even though the screen was just 5" it felt huge and couldn't comfortably be put in my pocket.

I feel the X's size of screen and overall compactness is perfect for me. I wouldn't buy anything larger in a phone, nor would I go back to a smaller screen. Anything bigger needed, I would use my iPad.

It's strange how 4.7" is now considered small when once it was ridiculed as being huge. The original iPhone (3.5") was huge for the time. I can remember my Nokia N95 8 GB (2.8") and not being bothered with its screen size.

The boom in media - YouTube, iPlayer, Netflix photo viewing and others plus people wanting to write emails comfortably on their phones has fuelled the rise in screen size, though. I do feel that the largest size for phones (around 6 to 6.5 inches) has been reached, though and anything above is really a tablet. Even the word phablet is hardly used today as people have adjusted to screen sizes.

I also appreciate how many people like small phones which is why there is always a niche market for phones such as the SE.

The standard size iPhone, so 4.7”. It hits the sweet spot for me and doesn’t feel like I’ve got at iPad in my pocket.

I probably will never use a phone smaller again under the Plus or iPhone X. But the 4.7 was my favorite iPhone size, just because it wasn’t too obtrusive in the pocket and it was comfortable holding one handed, which can be problematic holding larger phones for reaching with the keyboard and hand fatigue overtime. But it was also my favorite phone size.

Yeah anything bigger is just unworkable for me and is now one of the reasons I’m ruling out the 6.1” LCD iPhone too. I’m not on the wagon with this big phone craze to be honest. My hands and pockets aren’t big enough either lol.
